Winona County Dive Rescue Team awarded grant for new boat

The Winona County Dive Rescue Team is pleased to announce that the Taylor Family Farms Foundation has awarded a grant of $17,500 to the team to assist with the purchase of a custom-built boat to replace our aging Boat 2. The current Boat 2 is an 18-foot, green at bottom that was the original team’s main boat from the mid-1980s. Unfortunately, due to its age, the boat is becoming too expensive to maintain. The cost of a replacement will be approximately $40,000, and this grant from Taylor Family Farms Foundation is a huge step towards obtaining the funds needed.

The Taylor Family Farms Foundation, created with a gift from Glen Taylor, accepted applications for their inaugural grant in September of 2024. The area of focus for this granting period was health and human services with an emphasis on emergency services. Organizations within 29 counties of southern Minnesota and 17 counties of northwest Iowa were welcome to apply.

The Dive Rescue Team is very thankful to the Taylor Family Farm Foundation for this generous award as it will allow the team to continue to serve Winona County and surrounding communities with updated and reliable equipment. The Winona County Dive Rescue Team was established in 1983 to assist in water-related emergencies and has actively been working in that capacity for the past 42 years. The team works under the direction of the Winona County Sheri but is made up entirely of volunteers who are dedicated to serving their community in this way.
